Start tufting your own rugs using this solid foundation fabric. Tuftbox’s standard primary tufting fabric is made of 100% polyester. This strong even-weave fabric is compatible with any tufting guns, manual hand tufting tools and it also makes a great base for punch needle and rug hooking projects.

Primary Backing Fabric is a specific fabric developed for rug tufting. Also known as ‘primary tufting cloth’ this material is the essential base to all tufting projects. Tuftbox’s primary fabrics are made from woven polyester. Polyester is used by hand-tufting industry experts across the world because it is stronger than cotton and can tolerate the pressure of the tufting machine. Polyester is also not affected by humidity whereas cotton primary tufting fabrics absorb moisture and can become loose on the tufting frame.
